Booking Page Summary

Please read the following before booking:

  1. Pre-screening is strongly recommended before joining selected classes.
We strongly recommend a pre-screening appointment before joining Bone Builder, LIFTCOR or Bone Builder – Lift Ready, especially if you have osteoporosis, osteopenia, injury history, low exercise confidence, recent pain, surgery, RED-S concerns or other medical considerations.

  2. Pre-screening is not mandatory for everyone.
We understand that pre-screening can be a time and cost barrier. For this reason, it is not required as a blanket rule for all clients.

  3. Pre-screening or medical clearance may be required in some situations.
Bone Health Studio may request a pre-screening appointment or medical clearance if we believe there are safety concerns that need to be addressed before participation.

  4. All clients must complete a waiver and health declaration before starting.
This must be completed before attending any class, appointment or programme.

  5. Group classes have a 12-hour cancellation window.
If you cancel within 12 hours of the class start time, your class credit may be forfeited.

  6. 1:1 appointments have a 24-hour cancellation window.
If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, the full appointment fee may still apply.

  7. No-shows will be charged.
If you do not attend your booked class or appointment, the session will be treated as used.

  8. Please tell us about any new health issue before class.
This includes new pain, injury, fracture, fall, surgery, illness, medication change, dizziness, unusual fatigue or medical diagnosis.

  9. We apply compassion where appropriate.
We understand that genuine illness, family emergencies and unexpected events happen. These will be considered case by case, but repeated late cancellations may still be charged.

Full Studio Policies

1. Pre-Screening Policy

Bone Health Studio strongly recommends pre-screening for clients joining our group classes, especially those with osteoporosis, osteopenia, injury history, low exercise confidence, recent pain, surgery, RED-S concerns or other medical considerations.

Pre-screening is designed to help us:

  • Understand your health, injury and exercise history.

  • Identify any medical, bone health, joint health or movement considerations.

  • Modify exercises where needed.

  • Teach key lifting and movement patterns before class participation.

  • Help you feel more confident before joining a group environment.

  • Recommend the safest and most appropriate class pathway.

Pre-screening is not mandatory for every client, as we understand it can be a time and cost barrier to entry.

However, Bone Health Studio may strongly recommend pre-screening where we believe it would improve safety, confidence, technique or exercise quality.

In some situations, Bone Health Studio may require a pre-screening appointment or medical clearance before you begin or continue participating. This may apply where there are significant safety considerations, unclear medical status, recent injury, recent fracture, recent surgery or other concerns that may affect safe exercise participation.

If you choose not to complete a pre-screening appointment, you are still responsible for completing the required waiver and health declaration honestly and accurately before participating.

Bone Health Studio reserves the right to modify, pause or decline participation if we believe your current health status, movement capacity or safety needs require further assessment.

2. Waiver and Health Declaration Policy

All clients must complete a waiver and health declaration before attending any class, appointment or programme at Bone Health Studio.

This helps us understand your current health status and provide appropriate exercise guidance.

You agree to inform Bone Health Studio of any relevant:

  • Medical diagnosis

  • Bone health condition

  • Joint condition

  • Injury

  • Surgery

  • Fracture

  • Fall history

  • Medication change

  • Pain or new symptom

  • Cardiovascular, neurological or balance concern

  • RED-S, eating disorder or energy availability concern

  • Pregnancy or postnatal consideration, where relevant

Exercise carries some inherent risk. While Bone Health Studio takes reasonable steps to provide safe and appropriate exercise prescription, clients are responsible for providing accurate information and communicating any concerns before, during or after a session.

3. Medical Clearance and Additional Screening Policy

In some situations, Bone Health Studio may request medical clearance or require an additional screening appointment before you begin or continue training.

This may apply if you have:

  • A recent fracture

  • Severe or complex osteoporosis

  • Recent surgery

  • Unexplained pain

  • Unexplained dizziness or fainting

  • Uncontrolled blood pressure

  • Chest pain or cardiac symptoms

  • Neurological symptoms

  • Significant balance or falls risk

  • Active RED-S concerns

  • Eating disorder risk

  • Sudden change in health status

  • Any condition where exercise safety is unclear

Medical clearance or additional screening is not intended to create unnecessary barriers. It is used when we believe additional information is needed to prescribe exercise safely and responsibly.

Bone Health Studio may pause, modify or decline participation if we believe your current health status requires further review before training.

4. Class Safety Policy

Bone Health Studio classes are small, structured and supervised.

Classes are capped at 6 participants to allow for coaching quality, safety and individual modification.

We do not use a one-size-fits-all model. Exercise prescription is adjusted according to:

  • Your training history

  • Your current strength

  • Your confidence

  • Your movement quality

  • Your symptoms

  • Your injury history

  • Your medical history

  • Your bone and joint health status

  • Your fatigue and recovery

  • Your ability to perform the exercise safely

Load and intensity are progressed gradually using coaching judgement, movement quality, RPE, RIR and symptom response.

The aim is to train at a level that is challenging enough to create adaptation, but appropriate enough to remain safe, controlled and sustainable.

5. Pain and Symptom Reporting Policy

Please tell your coach before class if you have any new or changing symptoms.

This includes:

  • New pain

  • Increased pain

  • Dizziness

  • Nausea

  • Shortness of breath

  • Unusual fatigue

  • New injury

  • Recent fall

  • Recent fracture

  • Recent surgery

  • New medication

  • New medical diagnosis

  • Any symptom that makes you feel unsure about exercising

Exercise may feel physically challenging, but it should not feel unsafe.

Pain, fear, uncertainty or unusual symptoms should always be communicated early. This allows us to modify or stop an exercise where needed.

6. Progression and Loading Policy

At Bone Health Studio, load is progressed with purpose.

We do not progress exercises simply because someone “can do more”. We progress when it is appropriate, useful and safe.

Progression may be based on:

  • Technique quality

  • Confidence

  • Movement control

  • Pain response

  • Fatigue response

  • Injury history

  • Bone health status

  • Joint health status

  • Training consistency

  • Recovery capacity

  • Clinical reasoning

For some clients, especially those with osteoporosis or low bone mineral density, progressive loading may be important for adaptation. For others, especially those with osteoarthritis, pain sensitivity, recent injury, low training confidence or RED-S concerns, loading may need to be introduced more cautiously.

The goal is not just to lift heavier. The goal is to build strength, confidence, resilience and long-term function.

7. Booking and Payment Policy

All classes and appointments must be booked in advance through the Bone Health Studio booking system.

Bookings are confirmed once payment has been completed or a valid payment method has been provided.

Bone Health Studio may require a card on file for ongoing bookings, weekly passes, class packs or recurring appointments.

Clients are responsible for managing their own bookings, cancellations and class credits through the booking system.

Prices may vary depending on the service, class type, package, promotion or practitioner.

Bone Health Studio reserves the right to update prices, booking rules and package terms. Any changes will be communicated clearly before they apply.

8. Cancellation Policy

We understand that plans change. However, late cancellations make it difficult for other clients to attend and for the studio to operate sustainably.

Group Classes

Group classes require at least 12 hours’ notice for cancellation.

If you cancel within 12 hours of the class start time, your class credit may be forfeited.

1:1 Appointments

One-to-one appointments require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellation.

If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, the full appointment fee may still apply.

No-Shows

If you do not attend your booked class or appointment, the session will be treated as used.

Compassionate Consideration

We understand that genuine illness, family emergencies and unexpected circumstances happen.

These situations will be considered case by case. However, repeated late cancellations or no-shows may still be charged, even where the reason is understandable.

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under New Zealand consumer law.

9. Late Arrival Policy

Please arrive on time for your class or appointment.

For group classes, we recommend arriving 5–10 minutes early so you can settle in, prepare and complete the warm-up.

If you arrive late, you may not be able to join the class, especially if the warm-up, safety briefing or technical instructions have already been completed.

This is a safety decision, not a punishment.

For 1:1 appointments, late arrival may reduce your appointment time. The full appointment fee will still apply.

10. Refund Policy

Refunds are not provided for completed sessions, used class credits, late cancellations or no-shows.

Unused class packs, weekly passes or prepaid services may be eligible for a credit, extension, transfer or refund at the discretion of Bone Health Studio.

Medical issues, injury, relocation or exceptional circumstances will be considered case by case.

Bone Health Studio may request supporting information where a refund, extension or credit is requested for medical reasons.

Nothing in this refund policy limits your rights under New Zealand consumer law.

11. Class Pack and Pass Policy

Class packs, passes and introductory offers are subject to the terms stated at the time of purchase.

Class packs and passes:

  • Must be used within the stated expiry period.

  • Cannot usually be exchanged for cash.

  • Are not transferable unless approved by Bone Health Studio.

  • May not be shared between clients unless clearly stated.

  • May be extended at the discretion of Bone Health Studio in exceptional circumstances.

Introductory offers are available only under the conditions stated at the time of purchase.

Bone Health Studio reserves the right to update class pack and pass options over time.

12. Class Suitability Policy

Bone Health Studio offers different class pathways for different needs.

Bone Builder

Bone Builder is designed for people with osteoporosis, osteopenia or diagnosed bone health concerns who require a structured, progressive and supervised strength training environment.

Pre-screening is strongly recommended before joining Bone Builder, particularly if you are new to lifting, unsure about technique, have recent pain or injury, or have concerns about exercising safely with osteoporosis or osteopenia.

LIFTCOR

LIFTCOR is designed for endurance athletes, active individuals and those wanting structured resistance training to support bone, tendon, strength and performance resilience.

It may also be appropriate for people at risk of low bone density, including those with RED-S concerns or family history of osteoporosis.

Pre-screening is strongly recommended if you have a current injury, recent bone stress injury, RED-S concerns, low training confidence or uncertainty around safe loading.

Bone Builder – Lift Ready

Bone Builder – Lift Ready is an entry-level technique class for people preparing to join Bone Builder or LIFTCOR, or for those wanting a refresher on the key compound lifts.

This class may be a useful starting point if you do not want to complete a full pre-screening appointment but would still like structured coaching before joining a more progressive class.

Bone Health Studio reserves the right to recommend the most appropriate class pathway based on your health history, screening information, goals, confidence and safety needs.

13. Health Changes During Membership

You must inform Bone Health Studio if your health status changes after you begin attending.

This includes:

  • New diagnosis

  • New injury

  • New fracture

  • New fall

  • New surgery

  • New medication

  • Pregnancy

  • Significant change in pain
