What is Bone HEalth Studio?
Bone Health Studio is a strength-focused health studio designed to help people move beyond fear, fragility, and uncertainty — and back toward confidence, capability, and full function.
Inspired by the success of the Bone Builder pilot programme, Bone Health Studio bridges the gap between medical advice, physiotherapy, and real-world strength. Many people are told they need to “get stronger,” “improve bone density,” “manage arthritis,” or “return safely to exercise,” but are rarely shown exactly how to do that in a structured, safe, progressive way. That is where Bone Health Studio sits.
Our focus is on evidence-informed resistance training, careful exercise education, and small-group coaching that helps people build strength with clarity and confidence. Whether you are managing osteoporosis, preparing for or recovering from orthopaedic surgery, navigating menopause, dealing with osteoarthritis, returning from injury, or simply wanting to feel stronger and more capable, Bone Health Studio provides a pathway from protection to progression.
This is not a traditional gym, and it is not a medical clinic. It is the space in between — where expert movement assessment, strength training, and practical support come together to help people rebuild trust in their bodies. Our goal is simple: to help you lift well, move well, and live with greater strength, independence, and confidence.
Now take a look at these NZ-specific Osteoporotic statistics. Really take your time. Because as you’ll see these numbers are terrifying.
And you know what, these statistics can be stopped in their tracks.
Quite simply, it is THIS one statistic that made Greg’s mind up: Bone Health Studio is not a want, it is a
NEED!
Who is bone health studio:
What was the Bone Builder Pilot Programme?
This was something that I knew I had to deliver.
My desire to start the Bone Builder pilot programme came from a clear gap I was seeing in practice: people were being diagnosed with low bone density, osteoporosis, or increased fracture risk, but were often left unsure how to train safely, confidently, and effectively. Even worse I saw their fear. Their fear of movement, fear of fracture, and fear of what the future held.
September 15th, 2025 The Bone Builder Pilot Programme had its first group class. Everyone was nervous - including me. Two groups of 5 started.
Now: there are 18 women in the programme (with a lot waiting list in the wings). Yes, there have been a few drop outs, but (and with absolute honesty) none due to injury.
In September, the youngest in the group was 54, the eldest 77. All ladies. Most had osteoporosis, few had any gym experience. None had experience lifting heavy weight.
We started lifting very, very light weights. 3-5kg max (some lighter still). We spent the first month working at a very low level of intensity or load, and really, REALLY focussed on technique and building confidence.
Roll on to May 2026, we have Deadlifts exceeding 50kg, we have Back Squats of 60kg. but we still have the newer Bone Builders lifting 8kg, and working slowly.
THIS is the where the magic lies - working within your own capacity.
We have so much fun. We talk technique, and science. We talk family and TV.
It is SO much fun. I can’t wait for you to feel strong again - IT’S LIFE CHANGING.

The Bone Health Studio Story: Continued
Continued from the Home Page:
I get asked to do a lot of presentations.
From breaking down the barriers to exercise entry, running biomechanics, triathlon biomechanics, and so much more. NO presentation I have ever delivered has ever been this engaging and inspiring. Ever.
The lightbulb went off. I spent a lot of time reflecting on this presentation. I knew it was something I had to do.
And then I got an email. One of NZ’s leading Endocrinologists wanted me to walk her through the LIFTMOR study, as she had been told of the presentation by one of her patients. At that meeting I basically committed to starting what is now the Bone Builder programme.
And I will never look back.
Some context: as a Sports Biomechanist I have had the enormous privilege of working with some of NZ’s and world’s greatest athletes and teams. A few weeks ago I was having a chat with Lisa Carrington and she was asking how the classes were going.
I said to her, quite honestly, “Lise, over the length of a year I can give you mm by mm an advantage which adds up on the race course. With the Bone Builder group I can give them incredibly large positive changes over a small period of time. It’s the most rewarding time of my week”.
And that, is the foundation of Bone Health Studio.
